Deutsche Sprachschule fuer Kinder und Deutsche Sprachschule fuer Erwachsene

 January 11, 2008 Friday nights at 5pm for children & Wednesday nights 7:00pm for adults.
Please enroll your school age children in our Children's German School and you in our Adult classes. We will start the Adult class on 26 March 2008 at 7pm. Contact the Club for more information.

Winteressen

January 13, 2008 Sunday at 1pm
Please reserve early for our Club's annual Winteressen featuring a Sauerbraten dinner with soup, vegetables, dessert and coffee. Roast chicken is available with prior reservation.
 

Jahreshauptversammlung -- Big Annual Meeting

January 27, 2008 Sunday at 1pm
Our annual meeting will not only feature a roundup of the events from the year before, but will look ahead to see what the New Year will bring for YOUR Club. This will also be an election meeting. Please contact us if you have any interest in joining the governing committee. We strongly urge all members to attend this event. We'll start promptly at 1pm. Complimentary food and beverages will be served. The February monthly meeting will follow immediately. Please attend!! 
 

Schlachtfest 

February 17, 2008 Sunday at 1pm and 3pm
We will serve Homemade Bratwurst, Leberwurst, Sarma (stuffed cabbage), and roast pork - family style - along with homemade donuts and coffee. Seatings at 1 and 3pm.  Members can stop by Saturday morning if you want to help make the wurst and sarma for Sundays meal.  
 

Osteressen

March 9, 2008 Sunday at 1pm
This dinner will feature our annual Palm Sunday meal (roast pork). Roast chicken is available with prior reservations.
 

Donauschwabenessen

April 13, 2008 Sunday at 1pm
"Etwas Gutes, etwas "Schwowisch"! We will serve our ethnic beef goulash dinner with vegetables, dessert and coffee. Roast chicken is available with prior reservations.

Muttertagessen

May 4, 2008 Sunday at 1pm
We will serve a Schnitzel dinner with soup, vegetables, dessert and coffee as we honor unsere Mütter. Roast chicken is available with prior reservation. There is only one seating at 1pm, and this is a very busy day, so reservations are strongly recommended.
 

Donauschwaben Ausflug - Canoe Trip

May 18, 2008 Sunday at 8am
We will go to the New Jersey Pine Barrens to enjoy a full day of canoeing. The event begins in the morning at the clubhouse. Items to bring along include insect repellant, sun screen, lunch, beverages, and a dry change of clothing just in case! People have been known to fall in "accidentally"! We will caravan from the club house, so we will try to take the least number of vehicles possible. We will be done canoeing and leave on the return trip home sometime in the mid-afternoon.

The caravan leaves the clubhouse at 8:30 am sharp.


 

Donauschwaben Wallfahrt

June 1, 2008 Sunday at 8am
We will travel to St. Peters Church in Philadelphia for the annual pilgrimage and remembrance mass in honor of those Donauschwaben/Germans who lost their lives between 1944-48. Caravan leaves the club at 8 am.

We'll have several choirs, as well as a German brass band providing additional music. This event commemorates the tragedy that befell the Donauschwaben and other Germans in the aftermath of World War Two.

We encourage all of our members and friends to make an effort to be a part of this event. It begins at 10:15am in Philadelphia.


 

Vatertagspiessbratenessen

June 8, 2008 Sunday at 1pm
We will serve spit-roasted pork for this, our annual June picnic, along with our potato salad and other fresh vegetable salads, and dessert. Roast chicken is available with prior reservation. The meal is first come, first served. This is a popular dinner, so we request that you call and let us know how many are coming so we can be sure to have enough food prepared for everyone. We will begin serving at 1 pm. In the unlikely event of rain, we will hold this picnic indoors.
 

Donauschwaben Kanufahrt / Zelteln

July 4th weekend (Tentative) Thursday-Sunday
This year's "Big Canoe Trip" will be at the Upper Delaware River Valley near Hankins, New York, in the Catskills.

We will arrive at the campground anytime on or after Thursday, July 3, and depart on Sunday July 6. The cost to stay at the campground will be on a per-night basis, about $7 for adults and $2 for kids. Canoes are available to rent for about $23 per person per day, or you can bring your own.

Items you may want to bring: tent, sleeping bag, food, clothes, quarters for showers, towels, sunscreen, insect repellant, chairs, lanterns, canopies, etc.

The 4th Annual Euro-American 

Auto Show (Rain date is Sunday the 13th)

July 12, 2008  Saturday
The Trenton Donauschwaben and the German-American Society of Trenton present this joint club sponsored car show. The show hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the German-American Picnic Grove, 215 Uncle Pete's Road, Yardville, NJ (down the road from our clubhouse).  Great German-American food and drink, D.J. and most of all great looking cars! Pre-registration $12 and $15 day of the show. Admission free to the public. Trophies to the top 50 cars, Best of Show (Euro & American), Peoples Choice. Judging by our AutoKlub members. Sommerspiessbratenessen 

July 20, 2008 Sunday at 1pm
We will serve our renowned and delicious spit-roasted pork for this, our annual July picnic, along with our potato salad and other fresh vegetable salads, and dessert. Roast chicken is available with prior reservation. The meal will begin at approximately 1 pm. In the unlikely event of rain, we will hold this event indoors.

Note: We are also planning a Bus Trip to the Yuengling Brewery in Pottsville, PA during July or August. Look for future details in the newsletter.

Join our Club's AutoKlub members at the Philadelphia Cannstatter off I-95 on Academy Road and Frankfurt Ave. The show starts at 11p.m.  Great food, drink and most of all cars! Rain date is Sunday. Support our club entries!

 

Donauschwabentreffen in Cleveland, OH

Tag der Donauschwaben '08

 

August 29-August 31, 2008 Friday-Sunday
All Donauschwaben and friends are invited to the annual North American Donauschwaben convention held this year in Cleveland.   About thirty of our Club members plan to attend this year. We are looking into to hiring a bus to go out on. There is a lot to do in the area, so join us. This plans to be a very large event with thousands of Donauschwaben present. For more information about this wonderful cultural event talk to one of our officers.

 

35th German Heritage Festival

September 7, 2008 Sunday
This event is held in Holmdel, NJ. Join us at the Club's pastry booth. Tickets for the main event are available at the club. German food, crafts, live music and dance groups. Call Stefan Brandecker for details at (609) 265-7779.

Erntedankfest 

September 28, 2008 Sunday at 1pm
Join us for a Sauerbraten dinner  with soup, cake and coffee. Seating is at 1 pm. Our AutoKlub members will display their cars. Pick your favorite car of the show!

38th Philadelphia Steuben Parade

September 20, 2008 Saturday at 1pm
The parade will start at Frankford Ave. & Welsh Road, Philadelphia, PA. Call Joe Brandecker for details at (609) 585-9001. Join us also the night before (Friday 9/28/07) at the United German-Hungarian Club in Oakford, PA for the Bavarian Oktoberfest and rock-on at the "Rocktoberfest" concert.

Also, join the Autoklub in Wildwood, NJ over the September 19th weekend for the Annual Boardwalk Auto Show. Over 500 custom cars on the "boards"  and cruisin the streets of Wildwood.


Deutsche Sprachschule

September 10, 2008  Wednesdays 7:00pm
Please join us for registration and the first class of the Adult German Language School for the Fall. The Children's School will start Friday night September 12, 2008.   Call the Club or email us for details.

52th Stiftungsfest

October 19, 2008 Sunday at 1pm
We celebrate our club's 52rd Anniversary with a dinner, celebration and all that goes with live music! Starts at 1 pm. A cultural corner with the Club's history will be setup for viewing. We hope all members and guest attend this special occasion. 

Totengedenkfeier

November 2, 2008 Sunday at 1pm
We commemorate the Donauschwaben/German tragedy of 1944-1948 at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Trenton. A short memorial service is held. Please join us. We will return to the Club afterwards for refreshments.

St. Nickolausfeier

December 7, 2008 Sunday at 1pm
Our traditional beginning of the Christmas holiday season will feature a dinner of roast pork, roast chicken, stuffed cabbage, bratwurst, selbst-gemachte Christmas cookies, and beverages. St. Nickolaus and Krampus will also be there with small presents for all children in attendance. All club members are invited to attend this fun, family afternoon together.

Silvesterfeier

December 31, 2008 Wednsday at 8pm
This is the big one! Everyone is welcome to celebrate New Years' Eve with us. Bring your family and friends for a fun (and inexpensive) time at the Donauschwaben. There will be a dinner of bratwurst, ham, fresh salads, cookies, and lots of cold champagne :-)
